Cafe Rio began in 2008 when founder Maria Santiago, a first-generation chef inspired by her family's kitchen traditions, opened a small corner café in Mesa, AZ. Her dream was simple — serve honest, fresh food made from scratch every single day, and make every guest feel at home.
What started as a 12-seat café quickly grew into a beloved community gathering place. Word spread through the neighborhoods of Mesa and beyond, drawn by the aroma of slow-braised meats, hand-pressed tortillas, and made-to-order dishes that honored both tradition and creativity.
Today, caferio stands as a cornerstone of the local dining scene — a place where flavors tell stories and every plate is an expression of care. We're proud to have served over 200,000 guests and counting.

With 20+ years of culinary experience, Maria's vision for fresh, soulful food started Cafe Rio. She still cooks every weekend and personally develops all new menu items.
A Le Cordon Bleu graduate, James brings classical technique and bold creativity to the kitchen. He leads our culinary team and oversees daily menu execution with relentless precision.
Sofia keeps Cafe Rio running seamlessly from open to close. Her background in hospitality management and her warm personality make her the backbone of our guest experience.
David transforms events into unforgettable dining experiences. With a portfolio of 500+ catered events, he leads our catering division with creativity and flawless execution.
